our director, and the staff of Mediation Matters, are professionals experienced in business mediation.
Carl
D. Schneider, Ph.D
is a mediator, psychologist, trainer, and consultant
working for over thirty years with businesses, government agencies, educational
institutions, and families. With extensive experience as a clinical
psychologist, pastoral counselor, and a marriage and family therapist, he
brings a skilled clinical perspective to his work.
Since 1995, Carl has directed Mediation Matters, a training, consultation, and service
organization serving clients nationwide. Prior to that, he headed organizations
in both the public and private sectors, including directing the major mediation
service in Chicago for more than a decade. Carl has extensive experience
working in health care, legal, religious, and educational settings and has
served on the Board of Directors of numerous not-for-profit organizations,
social service agencies, and professional groups.
He has trained thousands of mediators and is widely
recognized as one of the top mediation trainers in the country. His teaching
experience also includes faculty positions at Antioch Graduate School of
Education in New England, DePaul University, the Illinois School of
Professional Psychology, Indiana University, Woodbury College, the University
of Chicago, and Harvard University.
Carl is an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association
for Conflict Resolution, a member of the American Association of Marriage &
Family Therapy, a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, a
member of American Psychological Association, and a member of the Association
of Family & Conciliation Courts.
In addition to his own book, Shame, Exposure and Privacy(Norton, 1992), Carl has written more
than twenty professional essays
and articles. He holds a M. Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City
and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Sharon
Pickett, M.A
is a trained mediator who brings 30 years experience in
education and communications to her role as a mediator. She holds a Masters
degree from Dartmouth College where she was also a lecturer and Assistant Dean
of Students. Sharon has served as Director of Communications for three national
nonprofit organizations, representing their issues to the media, at national and
international conferences, and at the United Nations. Currently President of
Sharon Pickett & Associates, she provides communications consulting and
mediation for clients nationwide. She is a member of the Association for
Conflict Resolution and a certified mediator with the Maryland Council on
Dispute Resolution.
